why ashley became a health coach

I knew I needed to be “the change I wish to see in the world,” which is what led me to become a health coach.

Ashley's passion for nutrition and a holistic lifestyle stems back to her own personal struggle with chronic health issues. Over the years, she has battled numerous chronic conditions. In her early 20’s she dealt with IBS, interstitial cystitis, allergies and anxiety. She immersed herself in the world of nutrition and holistic health to find ways to combat her painful and debilitating symptoms, as she felt that medications were just a band-aid fix, and often times carried worse side-effects than the symptoms she was trying to manage in the first place. Through an entire diet change, mindful movement and exercise, and dedicated self-care, Ashley was able to ease her symptoms, and put several of her health conditions into remission. Looking back, she is now able to link many of these conditions and symptoms to mold toxicity and other gut health imbalances.

Years later, when Ashley was diagnosed with neurological lyme disease, it was an uphill battle as the disease was late-stage. Her health deteriorated for nearly two years before receiving the proper diagnosis, which led to some long-term and debilitating effects. But she was determined to fight, and after years of IV and oral antibiotics, supplements and herbs, and huge lifestyle and mindset changes, Ashley was able to put lyme in remission and balance her gut again through a real food nutrition approach and daily wellness practice. Ashley is able to look back on this challenging time and appreciate the lessons, growth (and wonderful people) that lyme disease brought to her life.

If one area of your life is not tended to, that imbalance over time, can contribute to dis-ease in the body. She also learned just how much of an impact environmental factors can have on health such as mold, VOC’s and airborne chemicals, EMFs, and the overall energetic frequency of your home and space. You cannot heal in the same environment that you got sick inread that again.

Ashley and her family faced another devastating set back in 2020 when they were unknowingly exposed to toxic sewer gases and mold in their new home due to some contractor work that was completed against code. This created a tremendous amount of confusion and suffering, but forced Ashley to once again take on an active research and education role, where she was able to dive even deeper into functional health and learn about creating a healthy home environment and safe haven for her family to reside in.

While Ashley is no longer actively treating lyme disease, she considers herself to be in the regenerative phase of her health journey and still works to manage some of the long-term structural damage that mold, toxic gas exposure (and tickborne illness) left her body with, including nerve damage and chronic pain. But overall, Ashley is thrilled to be where she’s at, supporting clients and working with health food brands…doing what she is passionate about! She is eager to share her joy and knowledge with others as her mission is to educate, guide, and encourage others to take back ownership of their own health and home!

Ashley also loves cooking, and the kitchen is the heart of her home. She works with well-known health food brands to develop healthy recipes as well as run her own food blog on Instagram, and develop recipes for clients. She believes in bio-individuality, which means every BODY is different. She practices what she coined as the "real food diet", which is an intuitive way of eating that consists of mainly fresh, organic, whole foods including high-quality meats, seafoods, gluten free grains, vegetables and fruits. She makes healthy eating easy and fun for her family including her 9-year-old son—their real food menu still includes (cleaner, gut-friendly versions) of pizza, pasta, and bread! Since becoming a mom nine years ago, her dedication and enthusiasm for nutrition and holistic living only continues to grow with each passing each day.

When you work with Ashley, she will guide and support you to feel your best through nutrition, functional health education and non-toxic lifestyle changes that work for YOU.
